MIS 750 - PAM System or PFI???

As promised in previous entry, this time we will see best and bad side for both system and you should decide which system is better and worth for investment?

 Below are major factors that can be compare between these two systems. PFI created as better version of PAM and most of user expected to experience better. Both system have user friendly interface. User might get any they need easily however, PAM system requried too many steps to view any certain information needed by user. Different with PFI, according to the tester, PFI is more easy to be access as the interface of PFI similar to Microsoft application and PFI has simplify the steps by identify the most important functions available in PFI under PAM Grids for easy access by the users.

 
All information available are accurate but the responsiveness of both systems in providing and view the information a bit slow. In both systems, blotter setup are allowed however, PAM Systems only able to sort according to portfolio, number of transaction and status of the transactions; and PFI, it can view specifically according to portfolio, transaction type, status of the transaction and number of transaction. Basically, PFI has extra advantage and function available that can help user to reduce time and simplified the steps that involved.


Performance for both systems basically become the major factor and indicator on how success the system could be. PAM System from beginning was having a performance problem. Some reason such as too many user logged in in the same time, too many or too long queues being run (more worst when price and report downloading time) and involved too many transaction movement could be the reason or cause why PAM performance was declining. From PFI performance, since this system is a new system installed in our organisation, the test scripts and reports have proved that PFI also facing the same problem but still yet to identify the main reason that could be the cause of the bad performance. As overall, based on my personal experience in handling both systems, PAM System is more convenience to be handle and I have been handle this system about almost 4 years but, PFI is the best decision to move on with better accounting management system, more systematic, easy access and has been simplified. MIS 750 - PFI "PAM For Investments"

As in previous entry, I have shared about PAM system, however in this next entry I am going to share about another accounting management system, PFI. This system has been introduced to the market on year of 2013. This system has been developed to furnish the weaknesses and improved better operation functions in old PAM system. Lets view the basic function of PFI and how the performance so far expecially in handling major function or daily tasks.

Still using Citrix as its dekstop and the features of PFI more on Microsoft features. On the left side, PAM Grids listed the main fuction for user to use on daily basis. For example, positions, security master, cash, locations, performance management, transactions, mutula funds. private placement, poftfolios and reporting. Basically, the key features of PFI are similar with PAM Sytem.

  • Multi-basis accounting : Local GAAP, TAX, Stat, Management, IFRS

  • Integrated sub-ledger with multiple charts of accounts

  • Multi-currency based with bifurcation of FX and market G/L

  • Accounting across all asset classes: equities, fixed income, derivatives, structured products, options, futures, swaps, real estate investments, private placements

  • Integrated GIPS-compliant performance measurement, attribution and analysis
  • Regulatory reporting
  • Web-based reporting with user-defined dashboards

  • Flexible ownership structure
As PFI is still undergo for training and testing mode, as overall, I can say that PFI interface are intresting and more direct especially to see the currect holdings, cash, location as this has been simplified by PAM Grids. There are less step to reach on certain function and easy to search as well as to sort either according to the portfolio or transaction types. Even the performance of PFI still unpredictable however, the improvement made through PFI can be proud. Easy friendly system? I can consider as yes. Easy access? I do agree. However, as mentioned earlier PFI still in the progress for training and testing. I believed, a part of being a new system, there are a lot improvement and weaknesses whould be highlight and rectify. Hope PFI could able to assist operation officer especially in obtaining information needed and reporting functions, thus, able to improve more in work progression and performance.

On next entry, we will see the comparison, in terms of strengths and weaknesses betweek PAM System and PFI.

MIS 750 - Portfolio Accounting Management System "An Investment Accounting Platform"

What is PAM system?

Basically, PAM system is a Poftfolio Accounting Management System delivered by PFS which PAM system was created with accuracy, efficiency, total cost of ownership, flexible, scalable, intuitive and easy-to-use investment accounting platforms. Most of investment company would invest to upgrade their system to easy manage, view and able to provide reliable information in its database.

With all key features above mentioned, PAM system could able to increase the producitvity with easy-to-use user interface, customizable grids and workspaces the way that company want them to be
Not only that, PAM system able to run queues independently (Auto setup required), can keep track for any transaction either past or current tramsaction according to portfolio (blotter setup required) and can review report quickly. PAM system allowed user to use its multiple dashboards which user can analyze effectively and manage exceptions throughout the trading and investment cycle.

However, at any circumstances, PAM System might facing a problem in terms of  performance and report review. From a real user experience, PAM System will facing a slow performance especially when there are too many user logged in in the same time. Most of the user will using the same q's in doing individual tasks. When there are too many user run for the same q's PAM system will be slow, hang and will log out automatically from the system. In terms of report review, most of the reports generated from PAM system valid to be use and compile to Security Commisioner standard and regulations. Data in PAM system will be utilised especially in completing SC reports, Shariah Reports and others report that related to regulators.

As overall, PAM system is new and high technology system that can give a positive impact to the organization and specifically to the users. With the user-friendly interface and easy use allow users to experience better and able to assist users to deliver more effective and efficient task. This Accounting System could  improve a lot in terms of company daily operation and should become most of reliable source to the company especially in handling investment activities.

MIS 750 - CIMBNET "Feel At Home Everywhere in ASEAN"

CIMBNET - Intranet or computer network use by CIMB Group Bhd to share information, operational system, computing services among its staffs. CIMBNET host several private websites that consists of important database such as HRIS, Group's CEO Blog, my page, resources, and staff newsletter. Each of the link has important component and information sharing purposes.CIMBNET built with purpose of information sharing and enhancing this culture among CIMB's staff also prepare information platform specifically for its staffs. CIMBNET can be access either in the office or outside the ofice as long as has internet connection.



On the top of CIMBNET home page, there are five important links which are :

My Page - Introduced by CIMB Group and the application similar to the Facebook. However, there are still strict guidelines in posting any status updates in this application to maintain good and positive images of CIMB. With this application, staff can manage her/his network by adding/following their colleagues and staff can view his/he network's status update. My page also allow staff to manage her/his what-to-do-list and system will recommend to staff an articles and activities that might useful for staff him/herself. However, there are limitation about this application as the purpose of having this application is not to socialize and free connection to public, but, this is for internal use by CIMB's employees. The status update might be since by all employees in CIMB.

 HR - One of important link in CIMBNET use by employees to access on HRIS, Learning and Development, Self-Help Centre, Career Opportunities, Staff Well-being, Policies and Forms. HRIS, important information system where all information about staff been stored in this database including leaves, performance management, claims and others. Log in with valid ID and password required to enter into this database as all information stored in this system remains private and confidential to be review by public. This link provide useful information to employees such as panel clinics and hospitals, training calendar, sponsorship, career opportunities and many more. Just by clicking one tab, employees can obtain as much as information they need.

Resources - Consists of Guidelines and Best Practice, Market Watch, Forms, Policies & Procedures, Anti Money Laundering, Templates/Memo/Presentation, User Manuals, Bursa Malaysia Market Data,

Articles related to CIMB especially on achievement and awards won will inspire employees to contribute well to the company's achievement. Not only that, another benefit of using Intranet, Company could save a lot of money as well as time. How this could be? Yes, instead of do a printing for all memos, Company can use intranet as platform for information sharing. But, how this could save time? Obviously it can save time. Whenever, memo has ben published in the CIMBNET, readers or employess may access to the memo even a second after it has been posted. Information will be spread out fast and efficiently. MIS750 - "Mon Panier Carrefour City"



Mon Panier - mobile shopping application introduced by Carrefour Group in year 2012. This application has been chosen to develop mobile ordering application with AIRSHOP solution  by AIRTAG. First store been selected to implement this mobile ordering application  - CARREFOUR CITY ST LAZARE. Carrefour Group believed the introduction of this application will enhance the relationship between Carrefour and customers.



How this application works? Basically there are 3 simple methods that customer must comply :

1. By using smartphone, the customer will place an order.

2. Within 2hours, Carrefour staff has to prepare the customer's order.

3. Upon arrival at the store, customer can just scan the 2D barcode or NFC smartphone.

 



The Mon Panie  Carrefour City application offers customers at Carrefour City with variety products offers. Perishable products such as fruits and vegetables can be order and purchased either using this application or during the visit to the store. This how Carrefour give the flexibility and freedom to customers to enjoy their moment while shopping in Carrefour.


This application is a free mobile application whereby;

No minimum purchase amount
Instantly locate offers and promotions
Multi-format loyalty cards including 2D bar and QR codes
Web and mobile ordering concept
Receipt will be sent via SMS and easy pick-up procedure upon arrival



Since this application considered as new application in retail industry it has been accept widely by Carrefour customers. They believed, with this technology advanced able to reduce their waiting time while make a payment at the cashier counter also, can reduce their time in searching for an items in that such huge supermarket area.

The introduction of this mobile shopping application by Carrefour has proved that Carrefour had put an effort in increasing customer's benefit as well as improving buying experiences also, assist customer to utilized time and money wisely while do shopping activities. Not limited to this concerns only, Carrefour has expand it trust and brand globally witih this application thus, grab opportunities to attract more customers in future.

Why this such application is now important to shopper?
Moving forward to high technologies era, I would say this application is a positive enhancement in retailing industry. Most of people take at least 2,3 hours only to do grocery shopping and definitely, the amount of crowds has turned to seasonal time. How this would happen? Basically, customers will do a grocery shopping every month end, thus, during that peak, most of hypermarket will be full with customers and most of the items will be out of stock. With existence of this application, customers mainly can save time, energy, can do stock checking earlier and can enjoy their leisure time while do the collections. This application able to reduce and save time also can let customers enjoy their sweet time in doing online shopping without has to experience "peak season" at the hypermarket.
